The Theme Editor is a powerful tool, allowing you to customize the look and feel of your entire site in only a few moments! While we offer different pre-built themes that you can choose from when creating your site, keep in mind that each theme is deeply customizable.
The Theme Editor is where that customization happens, so let's take a look at what it can do! Before we start, please note that changes made in the Theme Editor will affect elements on every page using the edited theme (usually the entire site). Additionally, we are not able to reset your site's themes after they are created, so please make changes with care!
Accessing the Theme Editor
There are several ways to access the Theme Editor; here are the main two!
To access the Theme Editor from the main menu is a three-step process: select Themes, open the action menu for the particular theme which you want to edit, and then select Edit
.
To quickly switch to the Theme Editor for the active theme while in the Page Editor, click Theme in the top left-hand corner of the page.
Once the Theme Editor is open, you'll see a menu on the left-hand side with several theme-specific categories of settings. Keep reading for a quick explanation of each category!
Theme Settings
Logo / Title
This section will allow you to add a logo, add a custom title, and even set up a link for the title text.
Colors
The Colors tab lets you change the background color for your site, as well as adjust the palette colors for the entire theme. The palette colors are a group of colors that will be shown throughout the page and theme editors. This allows for quick and easy changes to your selected elements.
Typography
Typography is divided into six categories, a few of these categories include Page titles, Subheadings, and Buttons. Some of the available customizations are font, weight, size, letter spacing, and more! Changes made to each of these areas will affect these elements site-wide. This allows for consistency throughout the website with minimal effort!
Header
From here, you can add a custom background image, change the style of the site's navigation menu (where your site's pages will be listed in the header), and adjust the Info Bar (the bar at the top of the header).
Footer
This section allows you to change the color scheme and edit the footer that will appear sitewide. Additionally, you have the options to toggle on or off SnapPages branding.
Options
This section is where you can adjust the default styles for buttons and dividers, and set the site to fixed-width or dynamic width (which is the default option).
Settings
This is where you can rename your theme!
Screen
Just like the page editor, the theme editor allows you to view your theme on different screen sizes. Click the Screen button to see the available sizes (Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile). For Tablet and Mobile, you can click once on their icons to show the preview on that type of screen in portrait mode, and then click again to show the landscape mode preview!
Advanced
The advanced tab provides additional customization options for a theme. To access these features, you will need to upgrade to the Advanced account. Let us know if you need any help upgrading, or have any questions about what is included in this type of account.
Final Note
If you need help with anything that wasn't covered here, or if you have any additional questions about the Theme Editor, reach out to the support team! We are always happy to help provide clarity.
