How to Resolve a Google Organization Verification Rejection
If your organization’s name was rejected during Google’s verification process, it’s likely because the information on your Google Payment Profile doesn’t match the information in your DUNS profile, or your DUNS profile needs updating. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Your DUNS Profile
Verify the accuracy of your DUNS profile information by searching for your organization here. If updates are needed, proceed to Step 2. If no updates are required, skip ahead to Step 4.
2. Update Your DUNS Profile
To update your DUNS profile, you’ll need at least two legal documents that match your organization’s Correct Legal Business Name and Current Physical Address.
Accepted Documents for Updating:
Business Name
Secretary of State Articles of Incorporation
Registration Amendment Document
Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) Confirmation Letter
Employer Identification Number (EIN) Confirmation Letter
DBA/Assumed Name Certificate Filing
Merger/Acquisition Agreement
Purchase Order Representing Asset/Liability Exchange
Address
Utility Bill
Lease Agreement
TIN Confirmation Letter
EIN Confirmation Letter
Third-party Invoice with Current Business Name and Address
3. Submit Your DUNS Update Request
Once you’ve gathered the necessary documentation:
Fill out the DUNS Request Form designed for Developer Account customers.
Provide your contact information.
Avoid using the main DUNS website as this specific form ensures faster processing for Developer Account needs.
Provide the following details:
Enter your email address.
Select "Developer Program".
Choose "Update or Correct DUNS".
After submission, Dun & Bradstreet will process your updates and confirm your DUNS profile.
Update DUNS information & Create New Payments Profile in Google Play Console
When you update your DUNS number, name, or address, those changes are not automatically reflected in your Google Developer Account. To ensure the updated information appears in Google Play, the Developer Account Owner must complete the following steps:
Google allows you to update the name and address associated with the DUNS number, but not the DUNS number itself. If the DUNS number has changed, you'll need to create a new developer account using the new DUNS number.
Log in to your organization's Google Play Console.
Click on “Developer Account” in the left-hand menu, then select “About You.”
Scroll down to the DUNS Information section and click “Update Organization Details.”
On the next screen, click “Create or Select Payments Profile.”
On the following screen, click “Create or Select Payments Profile” again.
Select “Create New Payments Profile.”
Enter the updated or same DUNS number.
Review the new DUNS information carefully, then click “Confirm.”
Confirm once again that all information is correct, then click “Save.”
Refresh the page and go through the standard Verification Process:
Upload Legal Documents that match your DUNS information.
Upload a valid Photo ID.
After verification, you will receive an email from Google prompting you to link the verified payments profile.
Log back into your Google Play Console, go to “Developer Account” > “About You.”
Click “Link Profile.”
On the next screen, select “Consent,” then click “Confirm and Save.”
Other Common Rejections
Document Verification Issues in Google Play Console
If you’ve received an error stating that your organization name does not match the information in your DUNS profile, follow the guidance below to resolve the issue.
Organization Name Mismatch
Error:
“The organization name on the uploaded document does not match the information on your DUNS Profile.”
How to fix it:
Upload a legal document that shows your entity name and address exactly as listed in your DUNS profile.
Ideally, use a letter stamped by the IRS or Secretary of State.
Double-check that the document is clear and readable, with no missing or cut-off sections.
Failed Document Verification
If your document upload was rejected, ensure the following:
The image is clear, well-lit, and not blurry.
All key information (name, address, etc.) is fully visible.
Avoid uploading screenshots or partial documents.
Failed License Verification
If your photo ID upload was not accepted:
Make sure the photo is clear, well-lit, and legible.
Do not crop the image—upload the full ID.
Avoid using photocopies or scanned versions; use a direct photo of the physical ID.
