This article is intended for users purchasing a NEW domain name. SnapPages does not include domain hosting.
If you already own a domain name and would like to transfer it to another host, please contact your DNS provider.
Check out our article here on how to connect an existing domain to Snappages.
Steps to Procure a Custom Domain
By default, you are given a SnapPages sub-domain with your account (e.g. yourorg.snappages.site). However, most people like to create their own custom domain name for their website (e.g. yourdomain.org, yourdomain.church, etc).
β
If you do not own a custom domain name, you can quickly and easily purchase one through a domain registrar (Google Domains is integrated into SnapPages). Any domain registrar will work with SnapPages and along with Google Domains, we also recommend Namecheap and Cloudlfare (visit these domain registrars to procure a domain, they are not built into SnapPages).
To utilize Google Domains built-in with SnapPages, navigate to Settings > Domain Names > 'Find a New Domain'.
Choose Your Domain
Once in Google Domains or another registrar, search for the domain you'd like to buy. If it's available, you'll be able to purchase it by following the instructions provided by the domain registrar. If it's not available, the registrar will show you other similar domains that are available. Once your domain is secured, you'll need to update the DNS records* for the domain to push your site 'Live'. Head over to our support article on How to use an existing domain to update the DNS records for your domain.
β
β*If you utilize the integrated Google Domains purchase option, the platform will automatically set your DNS records for you!
Note: Keep in mind that while you can purchase the domain through SnapPages, the domain itself will be managed on Google's end.
