During a broadcast, circumstances may arise where a Live Stream in the Dashboard needs to be deleted. Whenever this must be done, it is best practice to also stop the encoder to ensure that the broadcast ends with all syndication services.

Subsplash Platform

Native App

Upon deleting a Live Stream, the Item will be removed immediately from any List or Media Series that it exists in, and will no longer be accessible. Users who already have the Live Item open on their device will be able to continue watching the stream as long as the encoder is running.

Web App & Web Embeds

Upon deleting a Live Stream, the Item will be removed immediately from any List or Media Series that it exists in, and will no longer be accessible. Users who already have the Item open on a webpage will continue to have the ability to watch the stream if the encoder remains running.

If a user refreshes the web app page or embed, they will encounter the standard 404 page for the Web App: “Uh oh something went wrong. Looks like what you’re looking for floated away.” The Upcoming Live Stream Embed will display the next upcoming stream. If none are scheduled users will see “There are currently no live streams scheduled. Stay tuned.”

Syndicated Platforms

Facebook

As long as the encoder continues to broadcast to the RTMP server, the stream will continue to run on Facebook. This includes instances where users refresh the page since the post is not deleted when a Live Item is deleted in the Subsplash Dashboard. When the encoder is shut down, Facebook will transition the broadcast to VOD (video on demand).

YouTube

As soon as a Live Item is deleted in the Dashboard, playback will end and YouTube will remove video from the account. No VOD will exist for this video.
