In this article, we'll show you how to add a link to your website, Facebook page, or any other links that you'd like to direct your users to. If you haven't already, we recommend first learning more about the Build Your Own Tab, as this is the tab type we will be using.

Getting Started

  1. To add a link to your website, you will first want to create or navigate to the list that you wish to place this link on. In this case, I'll be using my "Home Tab Content" list, which I use to populate my Home Tab.

Tip: You can also find your list by going to Library>Lists, where you'll find all of the lists you've created in the past as well as have the ability to create a new list.

  2. Next, you will proceed to add a Link Item to your list by selecting Add Item>Link>Add 1 Item. Once you do that, be sure to save before proceeding!

  3. Add a Title

  4. Adjust the images as needed. Do this by clicking on the link item you just added to your list, click on the images for square, wide, and banner to make changes.

  5. Enter in URL, select the link type, and click Save!

Link Types

The app stores have strict policies on what content is allowed in the app. Any links that your user can possibly navigate to and make a transaction or watch a lengthy youtube video will result in your app being rejected during app store reviews.

For example, this link is using the app’s internal web browser. Your end-user could potentially make a donation within the app, which will violate the app store policies.

We've created a variety of link types. Click below to see how they will display within or outside of the app.

App Link

This type is perfect for linking in pages that have no website navigation, or a site that does not have any way to make a transaction. Link to forms, prayer requests, and Bible passages.

This link type opens within the internal mobile app browser.

If you built a page using Snappages, you can use the App Link type and amend the URL so that it removes the website navigation. Add ?embed=1 to the end of your URL. Without the Header and Footer, app users won’t be able to navigate to other parts of your website such as Giving. Essentially creating a standalone page that is cleanly embedded into your app.

Video

The app stores are picky about what they allow for videos and tend to reject apps with youtube videos that play within the app. This type will open outside of your app to prevent app store rejections.

Website

This is great for linking in websites that could potentially lead your user to donations or payments. This will open outside of the app to prevent app store rejections.

Giving or payments

Use this type to link your users to charitable donations, payments, and event registration sites. This will safely take your user outside of the app to ensure that you are in compliance with app store guidelines.

Subsplash Giving

If you have Subsplash Giving, we will prefill the link for you. This will open outside of the app.

Contact Link

This type is for adding links for calls or emails. If you are wanting more info about contact links, see our article here.
