App Updates

In order to change things like Branding, App Store Info, or screenshots, an app update needs to take place.

Updates happen in two different ways, explained below.

Feature Updates

We update your app to the latest version approximately once per quarter. This ensures that your app always has the latest and greatest features, improvements, and bug fixes.

Feature updates happen on an ongoing basis across platforms. They’re typically staggered, meaning that your iOS app might be updated in January and your Android app updated in March. While we can’t provide an exact time frame for when your next feature update will occur, you can rest assured that they’re happening regularly behind the scenes.

If you make changes to your App Store Info or Branding that isn’t urgent, you can simply wait for your changes to take effect during the next feature update without using an App Update Request.

App Update Requests

You get 2 complimentary App Updates Requests per year (the count restarts every year on January 1). It’s usually a good idea to request an app update for major changes, such as changing the name or logo of your church, or if you need new screenshots. Depending on the current queue and app store processing times, your app will be updated within 4-5 weeks from when you make the request.

To request an app update, ask the Subsplash Assistant or head to App Store Info in your Settings menu.

You can only have one update request submitted at a time, if you need to check in on your update request you can do so via the Subsplash Assistant.

Update Request Status

Each update request will be a unique ticket that is submitted, which allows you to track the progress of the update and reach out if additional questions come up. If you are not the one who submitted the update request be sure to check with your employees to see who did.

Store Rejections

Along the way there may be rejections from the store or things that need to be addressed. We will use the same Update Request ticket that was started to work with you through any of these. See App Rejections for more information specific to those.

What gets updated?

Every update whether automatically from Subsplash or requested manually from you will have the following updated.

Different app stores have different review times and policies, its possible you will see these changes at different times across the various platforms.

App Store Info

This is the information used on your app store pages, things like app short name, description, keywords, etc will all be udpate to reflect whats currently set in your Dashboard.

Screenshots

We generate screenshots automatically based on content in your app, be sure to have your items, artwork, layout, etc in place before you submit your update request. When we submit the request the screenshots are taken and will be used in the new release. At this time custom screenshots cannot be used due to compliance with multiple app stores. We also cannot guarantee that a specific tab, page, or selection of content will be portrayed in your app store screenshots.

Branding

Your current branding will be applied from your Dashboard. Remember you only have two manual updates a year so make sure your fresh new branding is what you want.

App Version

Lastly if your app is out of date it will be brought up to the latest version. Lots of our features are included in the various version releases so if you see a new feature that we announced but not in your app, its possible your app needs an update.
