Live Stream Chat will be available to those on Subsplash One or those who have added both Subsplash Live and Subsplash Messaging as add ons. If you would like to explore a new package or add these services reach out to your Client Success Manager!

To get started, log in to your Dashboard, head to Live, and start scheduling a live stream as you would normally.

Live Stream Chat will be available as a toggle in the top right and just like ensuring your stream will go to Facebook or YouTube you can toggle on "Chat" for it to be available on this Live Stream.

To make visitors feel welcome and ensure that the chat is engaging for all, we recommend assigning people in your community to host the chat. Right below the toggle to enable or disable Live Stream Chat will be your quick access to manage your chat hosts, which can be added or removed at any time in your Media Settings. Only those who have signed up for a Subsplash Profile and exist in your People can be invited as a chat host, and they have the power to:

  • Remove chats

  • Remove people

Many of the live chat features require the app to be on at least version 5.19, if you are not then request an app update here.

Live Stream Chat requires the user to be logged in to a Subsplash Profile in order to participate, this will be the same profile your users use for Giving, Messaging, Notes, etc. If they do not have a profile yet but want to chat, they can complete the signup process in the same window!

If a user does not want to participate in the chat there is a close button on a larger screen and if on mobile they can tap back into the video to exit the chat and just watch the stream.

After the live stream is over and it's transitioned to a media item, you will notice a refreshed analytics page with an added metric to see the people who were a part of that stream's live chat. Clicking on a person will take you to their profile in your dashboard where you can take further action, like inviting them to a messaging group!
