vMix is a powerful software encoder available on Windows machines.

Requirements

  • vMix

  • A text editor like the Notepad app

  • Access to the Subsplash Dashboard

SRT Streaming

Live RS is currently in an Early Access release. If your account is not enrolled, contact your CSM! To see if you're enrolled in Live RS, check the Media > Settings in your dashboard.

vMix's SRT settings are in a different place than the RTMP streaming outputs. They will be found in the Settings menu.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu within vMix:

  2. Select Outputs / NDI / SRT:

  3. Choose the output you want to stream, and select the settings cog wheel next to it. Make sure to check the box next to Enable SRT as well.

  4. Grab your Subsplash Live RS Stream/Server URL. This is found in the Subsplash Dashboard, under Media-->Settings. Your Hostname will be srt://live-rs.subsplash.com and your Port Number will be 8080. For your "Stream ID" select everything after "streamid=" in your Server URL, up to, but not including the "&".

  5. Make sure to select OK at the bottom of that menu.

  6. To start streaming, navigate to the Options section of Settings, and check the box for Start SRT Output. To stop streaming, uncheck this selection.

RTMP Streaming

  1. To start setting up for RTMP streaming, navigate to the Stream button at the bottom of the screen, and select the settings cog wheel next to it.

  2. Select Add to create a new profile, and title it “Subsplash Live RTMP”.

  3. In the Destination drop down menu, select Custom RTMP Server.

  4. In the URL field, enter your Server URL (found in the Subsplash Dashboard, under Media→Settings.)

  5. In the Stream Name or Key field, enter your Stream Name/key (found in the Subsplash Dashboard, under Media→Settings.)

  6. Next, we will set up the encoding settings. Make sure to match the settings found in our Recommend Settings Article (insert hyperlink). You can access these by selecting the settings cog wheel next to the Quality drop down menu.

  7. Save these settings and close the menu.

  8. To start streaming, select the Stream button and your stream will begin!
