Setting Up Wirecast with Subsplash Live

Follow along with the steps below to learn how to set up Wirecast for Subsplash Live.

Wirecast is a powerful software encoder for Mac and Windows computers. Follow the directions below to set up either SRT (recommended) or RTMP streaming, and how to add sources to Wirecast!

Requirements

  • Wirecast

  • Access to the Subsplash Dashboard

  • A text editor (SRT streaming only)

SRT Streaming

Live RS is currently in an Early Access release. If your account is not enrolled, contact your CSM! To see if you're enrolled in Live RS, check the Media > Settings in your dashboard.

  1. Select Output in the toolbar, and then Output Settings.

  2. Select SRT: Secure Reliable Transport as your output destination:

  3. Input the needed information in this screen:

  4. Your Address will be srt://live-rs.subsplash.com and your Port will be 8080. For your Stream ID select everything after "streamid=" in your Server URL, up to, but not including the "&".

  5. Select OK.

  6. To start streaming, select the Streaming and Local Recordings button in the top left. These buttons will also end the stream when you are ready:

RTMP Streaming

1. Open Wirecast

2. Select Output from the toolbar:


3. Select Output Settings... from the drop-down or Command +y .

4. Select RTMP Server as the destination and choose Ok:

5. Head back to the Subsplash Dashboard and copy your Stream Key and RTMP URL:

6. Paste your RTMP URL into Address
7. Paste your Stream Key into Stream:

8. Press a gear icon for Encoding settings.

9. Set up your Resolution, Frames Per Second and Bit Rate parameters to desired values. For the Key Frame value, double the value of your Frames Per Second. Check here to see what our recommend streaming settings are!

10. Select Save, then OK.

11. To start streaming, select the Streaming and Local Recordings button in the top left. These buttons will also end the stream when you are ready:
