Manually Unsubscribing a Contact
Using Church Management you are able to send Mailouts and Text Messages to your end users, but you are still required to comply with the CAN-SPAM and TCPA Guidelines that regulate email and text message sendouts. If one of your end users requests you to unsubscribe them from email or SMS communications, you can manually unsubscribe them using the following process.
Navigate to the Contact
Go into Church Management and click the Contacts page. From here, click the search bar in the top right next to the Filters button and search for the contact's name. If you don't know the contact's name, you can also search by email or phone number.
Click on the Notifications tab
This should be located on the left side of the contact under the Volunteer Availability tab.
Toggle off the Promotional Emails or Promotional SMS switch
Click the On/Off switch to toggle, and then click Save in the top right.
I Received an Unsubscribe Email in Reply to a Mailout
Google recently rolled out a new unsubscribe feature in Gmail that allows users to easily click an Unsubscribe button on any email, and that will automatically send a reply email with the word Unsubscribe. This does not automatically unsubscribe the contact from receiving promotional emails from your account and requires you to manually go to the contact and toggle off the promotional email feature.
The Unsubscribe Toggle Does Not Match the Communication Action
There are some instances where the Promotional Email/SMS toggle can become out of sync with the products that we use for those communications. If you run into this scenario, just toggle the switch to the opposite position and click Save. After this, refresh your browser and then toggle the switch back to the initial position and click Save.
