The primary benefit is that eligible non-profit organizations can have the annual $99 membership fee waived. This process requires you to contact Apple Developer Support directly, but the process is straightforward if you have the right documents prepared. This is for those who have successfully enrolled in the apple developer account. If you have not completed your paid enrollment into the Apple Developer Program, please complete your enrollment and review first.
We recommend completing this process after your new Subsplash app is live in the Apple App Store to reduce the chance that your app is rejected during Apple's review.
How to change account type
Part 1: What You'll Need Before You Start
Gather these items first to make the process smooth and fast. Everything must match your organization's official legal name.
Your D-U-N-S Number: This nine-digit number must be registered under your non-profit's legal name and current address.
Proof of Non-Profit Status: This is the most important document. For organizations in the United States, this is typically your IRS determination letter (e.g., 501(c)(3)).
Legal Authority: The person making the request must be a founder, executive team member, or have legal authority to act on behalf of the organization.
Part 2: The Steps to Follow
Go to Apple's Contact Page: Visit the Apple Developer support contact page: developer.apple.com/contact.
Choose Your Topic: Select "Membership and Account" or a similar topic related to account management.
Submit Your Request: Write a clear and concise message.
State that you need to change your legal entity type from a Corporation to a Non-Profit Organization. You can also mention that you would like to apply for the non-profit fee waiver.
Wait for a Reply: An Apple support representative will email you back, usually within a few business days. They will create a case for you and request that you upload the documents you prepared in Part 1.
Upload Your Documents: Follow their instructions to securely upload your proof of non-profit status and any other required information.
Review and Confirmation: Apple will review your documents to verify your non-profit status. This can take several days. Once approved, they will update your account's entity type and apply the fee waiver if you are eligible. You will receive an email confirming the change.
The most important thing is that your Legal Name, D-U-N-S Number, and Non-Profit Documentation all match perfectly. Any inconsistency will cause delays.
