Most tabs are designed to display a certain type of content: the Events tab displays calendar events and the Media tab is home to your media archives. But what if you want to do something more complex, like build a robust groups tab or a tab that breaks its content into three or four subsections? Look no further than the Subtabs option!

Subtabs vs. Build Your Own

Our Subtabs system, at its very basic level, works in the same way as the Build Your Own tab! The only difference is how many lists can be attached to each tab. The Build Your Own tab will use one list to hold all of the content, but you can add up to four lists to Subtabs β€” each being a subtab β€” to power the content. How should I use Subtabs?

Subtabs is a great system to use if you have up to four main categories you'd like to split your content into!

Here, the Reach Church app is using the Subtabs option to set up robust tabs for their Stories (searchable by story medium) and Groups (searchable by location, day, or alphabetically).

You can also use Subtabs to break your home or welcome tab into groups for Sundays, Connect, and Staff Directory, or to create a More tab that gets broken down into About, Contact, and Local Ministries.

How do I set up Subtabs?

  1. Start by heading to Apps > Mobile Apps, then select the Manage Tabs button.

  2. Select Add Tab and scroll down till you see Subtabs.

  3. Choose the name and icon for the tab and hit Create.

  4. After you make the tab active, select Publish and navigate to the tab.

  5. Choose + Add Subtab to choose your subtabs (up to four) from your lists.
