Troubleshoot why your podcast episode is not showing in iTunes, Spotify, etc.

In all of this, keep in mind that your feed may take a few hours to update on our end, and then podcast stores can take up to 48 hours to sync with your feed after that. Because of this, if an episode doesn't show up right away, you may just need to wait a little longer for it to appear. However, it doesn’t hurt to double-check some of the following steps just in case.

Start by checking your podcast feed URL and make sure that your episode is actually in the feed. Go to your Subsplash Dashboard and into Media > Podcast and select the podcast you are troubleshooting. Once open, click Copy Feed URL in the top right corner of the page. Next, open a new browser tab or window, paste in your URL and press enter/return on your keyboard. Once the page loads, you should be able to scroll through and see your episode.

Most browsers will offer a search function also which you could do by pressing either Control (ctrl) + f on Windows or Command + f on Mac.

My episode is in my feed but not in stores

If this is the case you will want to log in to the platform you submitted your podcast to and reach out to their support to troubleshoot.

iTunes allows you to request a force refresh.

My episode is not in my feed

Several things might cause your episode to not show up in your feed. We want to start by going to the Media Item itself by going to Library > Media and opening the item from there. Look towards the top right once the item is open and ensure your media item is Published.

Next, scroll down the page and check the audio section. Occasionally an error may have occurred during uploading and the audio file was not created. If your Media Item was previously a live stream then the audio section is grouped in with the video and trimming theater, to check if there is an audio file click on the three dots in the top right to download.

If there is no audio file, the media item will not go into the podcast feed. To resolve this, either upload a new audio file, upload your video again to start the audio transcoding process, or if you are working with a previous live stream you can trim the archive to produce a new audio file.

If you are seeing that audio files are missing from live streams frequently then it's likely due to your encoder settings.

Next, you will want to check your Media Item is available in your selected podcast source. If it's a Media Series you will need to make sure the Media item is within that Media Series. If it is a list then be sure the Media Item has been added to the list directly or exists within the list through a Media Series or another list. Then, head back to Media > Podcasts and open your podcast to check your content source.

If your item was just recently uploaded or published, it may take a few hours for it to appear in the feed, since our feed generator doesn't automatically update instantly. If this is the case, checking back later will most likely cause it to appear in the feed.

Lastly, while a date is not required for a podcast episode, it is how most podcast providers order them. So if you notice the episode is missing but doesn't have a date set in your Dashboard, it could be in the feed but just towards the bottom. We recommend all Media Items in a podcast have dates set.

Once you’ve checked all those things, you can go ahead and load your feed URL again as mentioned at the top of this article to see your episode loaded there.
